Alignment, Inc. releases Pioneer Basic and Pioneer Explorer

Laramie,
WY; June 17, 2008: Technology Alignment sponsored and
community open source projects, today announced the
availability of Pioneer Explorer and Basic 3.2, the
latest version of its open source Linux operating system
distributions. Pioneer operating systems continues to
build upon it's 7-year lifecycle with the Release 3
series. Highlights on the KDE based distribution include
improvements and enhancements on the Programs Folder
to allow difficult to find and install items such as
codecs while the latest release of Pioneer Linux sports
a 2.6.24-16 kernel, Firefox 3 beta 5 and OpenOffice.org
version 2.4.0.
"We've
come a long way in developing applications for the community,
including our opensource HIATLANTIS CRM based on PostgreSQL,"
claims Technology Alignment CEO Dianne Ursini. "We're
continuing with our commitment to Linux by continuing
support for the promised 7 years on our Pioneer Basic
and Explorer distributions".
Technology
Alignment has also introduced it's workstations, servers
and laptops provided with the Pioneer 3.2 release. A
recent merger with Britt Systems, a Division of Technology
Alignment, provides workstations starting at only $299
and $499 for a laptop for the first 100 laptops sold
as a promotion. The $499.99 laptop will retail for $599
after the promotion.
The
commercial versions have minor differences between the
free version and use a different set of repositories
when registered. Individuals may choose from either
the free version, Pioneer Explorer, or a boxed set,
Pioneer Basic, available from Technology Alignment partners
in the US, Canada and New Zealand.
Bryan
Christensen, Lead Developer of Linux and BSD distributions
stated; "We believe in continuing our deployments
of Linux Operating Systems to consumers, business and
the community; providing a stable computing environment."
Christensen also added, "Removing much of the unnecessary
bloat in Pioneer, we believe we've come up with a viable
desktop".
Pioneer
Basic/Explorer is available from the Technology Alignment

while a bit torrent is forthcoming.
